Efacec’s capabilities, competences, and portfolio of solutions in the Mobility and Transport sector will be presented at InnoTrans 2022, which takes place from 20 to 23 September in Berlin, Germany.

Efacec returns to the main world showcase of the railway industry, in which it has had a constant presence for the last 15 years, as this is a strategic area for the Portuguese company. Efacec is a major international player operating in the railway, metro, and light rail segments, providing technologically advanced, safe and efficient solutions in the areas of energy, telecommunications, railway safety, signalling and command & control.

At InnoTrans 2022, Efacec will be promoting its latest major international achievements, namely the completion of the Odense Light Rail Project (in Denmark) and the ALEX Project (in Sweden), as well as its latest technological solutions, including the XBarrier100 level crossing mechanism, distinguished with one of the world’s most prestigious product design awards, the Red Dot Design Award (which will be on display at the stand), the monitoring and speed control solution for Light Rail Systems, the new generation of signalling systems engineering tools and also the Level Crossing with 5G technology. The results obtained in several innovation and technological development projects co-financed by the EU and the Portuguese State, such as “DigiLightRail”, “CityCatalyst”, “NewDimensions”, “5Growth” and Ferrovia 4.0, will also be disclosed.

Manuela Costa, Commercial Director of Efacec’s Transport Unit, highlights “The Odense Light Rail System, in Denmark, will obviously be in the spotlight at InnoTrans 2022, as it is one of the largest national engineering projects, as well as the most complex and comprehensive in terms of the application of technological skills, carried out internationally in the area of mobility by Efacec. The project was inaugurated in April this year and represented, for Efacec, more than 50M€, reflecting the size and complexity of the solutions developed and supplied”.
Efacec’s participation in the fair, which, in its last edition, welcomed over 160,000 visitors from 149 countries, aims to strengthen the company’s internationalisation, namely, to boost entry into new markets for products, solutions and services, along with contact with new customers and business partners.

Efacec’s experience in the supply of electromechanical systems for metros and light railways dates back more than 25 years, having started by supplying substations for Metropolitano de Lisboa. From that date until the present, the projects have been successive. In 1997, Efacec had a very significant participation in the construction of the Porto Metro network, which was followed by many similar projects in different countries: Messina (Italy), Tenerife and Cadiz (Spain), Algiers, Oran and Constantine (Algeria), Nottingham (United Kingdom), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Dublin (Ireland), Bergen (Norway) and Odense (Denmark).

Efacec’s activity in intelligent and sustainable mobility has been very relevant in recent years, and the company has been selected by the most demanding customers in various markets.
