On June 28, GNRation in Braga was the stage for the closing event of the Baterias 2030 mobilizing project, cofinanced by COMPETE2020.

In this session, the results of the project of the consortium, led by DST Solar and composed of 23 entities, including Efacec, were presented, with the contribution of relevant partners at the national level who, although not formally part of the consortium, assume a relevant role in the value chain and represent potential end users of the recommended technologies.

The Baterias 2030 project aims to provide an integrated and structured response to the challenges of decarbonization of the electric grid through the development of decentralized production technologies (photovoltaic and wind) and possible battery storage (traditional or emerging technology), associating them with energy management systems.

Citizens are therefore empowered to make decisions, eventually becoming self-sustainable on their own or integrated into energy communities (micro-grids).
Within this context, the project comprises six Products, Processes or Services (PPS) with batteries as the connecting element. Efacec, through its Automation team, had active participation in two of the PPS:

PPS1 – New generation batteries with the development and installation in the living laboratory (GNRation, Braga) of a 50 kW control and power conversion system for connection to new generation batteries (REDOX);

PPS4 – Participation in the testing and validation of energy management models and applications for incorporation into an integrated management platform.

The closing event of the Baterias 2030 project was opened by Fernando Rio, Mayor of Braga City Council, and closed by José Teixeira, President of the DST Group.
The Baterias 2030 project involved an investment of €8.4 million and was led by DST solar, in a consortium composed of Efacec and the entities: Instituto Superior Técnico, Domingos da Silva Teixeira S.A., Bysteel Fs, S.A., WATT-IS, S.A., Innovation Point – Investigação E Desenvolvimento S.A., , Addvolt, S.A., Secil – Companhia Geral de Cal E Cimento S.A., Charge2c – Newcap Lda, Visblue Portugal, Unipessoal Lda, Laboratório Ibérico Internacional de Nanotecnologia (Lin), Universidade do Porto, Centitvc – Centro de Nanotecnologia e Materiais Técnicos, Funcionais e Inteligentes, LNEG – Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia I.P., CEiiA – Centro de Engenharia e Desenvolvimento (Associação), INESC TEC – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Tecnologia e Ciência, INESC Microsistemas e Nanotecnologias – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores para os Microsistemas e as Nanotecnologias, Universidade Do Minho
