Efacec Power Solutions Group, through Efacec Power Solutions Brazil, was contracted to modernize and automate two substations in the city of Rio de Janeiro: Santíssimo Substation, located in Campo Grande neighborhood, and Samaritano Substation in Botafogo neighborhood. Both belong to Light Serviços de Eletricidade’s distribution network, an electric power supply company that is present in 31 municipalities in the state of Rio de Janeiro, distributing energy to more than 10 million people in Brazil.

The Santíssimo 138/25 kV substation will receive an automation system with IEDs manufactured by Efacec, an upgrade that will ensure the stability of the grid as a safe power supply under a protection and control system based on the latest version of the IEC 61850 standard. The Samaritano 138/13,8kV substation will also operate with new IEDs integrated to the new system. The two projects are responsible for conducting electricity to approximately 4 million consumers.

Efacec Power Solutions Brasil, a company of Efacec Power Solutions Group, will be responsible for automation, system parameterization, installation and testing of panels as well as verification of needs and operational requirements of the substations.  The project will be completed in October 2022.

For Ângelo Ramalho, CEO and Chairman of Efacec, “It is with great satisfaction that we are involved in another project in Brazil, strengthening the partnership with Efacec Power Solutions Brazil, in a market with strong potential and where we expect to grow steadily.
