Efacec signed, last December, in Caracas (Venezuela), a contract for the supply of power transformers and mobile substations for the local electric utility CADAFE, the first contract signed between both companies.
This contract, valued at over 90 million Euros, is the largest ever won by Efacec in the Energy business area. It totalizes 46 x 36 MVA – 115 kV power transformers and 24 x mobile substations with different power levels: 11 x 10 MVA – 34,5 kV substations; 7 x 15 MVA – 34,5 kV substations and 6 x 36 MVA – 115 kV substations.
These supplies, to be done in a gradual way, will take place throughout 2009 – 2010.
This contract began with the Memorandum of Understanding signed in October 2008 between CORPOELEC (Corporación Eléctrica Nacional da Venezuela) and Efacec, within the scope of the Energetic and Economic Complementary Marco Agreement established between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Portuguese Republic on May, 13, 2008.
Efacec had formerly already supplied SHELL type power transformers (from 220 up to 400 kV) to EDELCA, another electric utility in Venezuela that also belongs to CORPOELEC. These transformers were erected in the EDELCA power transmission substation ensuring grid interconnection between Venezuela and Brazil.
