The Railways from the «Junta Autonómica da Andaluzia» (Autonomous Community of Andalusia) have just awarded to a consortium formed by Efacec and Avanzit, a contract worth 13.7 million euros for the implementation of electrification works and power supply of the Transvia Metropolitano / Bay of Cadiz (Chiclana-San Fernando-Cádiz).
The first works of this project, which deserved the positive opinion of the Railways Rector Council, will begin still before April 2010.
The contract includes the implementation of the overhead contact line, commonly referred to as catenary, and the installation of all equipment which will enable the supply and distribution of energy up to the catenary feeding directly the trains as well as other devices of this transport system (stops and emergency systems, among others).
The Bay of Cadiz Metro , which will have 22 stops, is a transport infrastructure operating in the Region of Andalusia and will have a total length of 24 km.
The success of Efacec in this project should be added to all others, won in different parts of the world, such as the Metro and Light Rail System of Sao Paulo (Brazil) and the Metro of Dublin (Ireland), Algiers (Algeria), Tenerife (Spain) and Bursa (Turkey), as well as in Portugal, as the flagship project of Porto Metro.
