USA, Efacec’s current greatest achievement

For Efacec, the United States of America represent one of the most demanding markets in the world, where crossing borders will soon get more difficult and local products and solutions will become crucial, requiring a reinforced approach based on the slogan “Buy American”. It is in this market, simultaneously demanding and very important for Efacec, that the Group has been developing its most ambitious undertaking until now. Efacec’s new production unit in the USA - Efacec Power Transformers Inc. - was officially inaugurated on the 19th of April 2010. The construction of the factory (whose first stone ceremony took place on the 25th of September 2008) was concluded by the end of 2009 and operations began in November of that same year. This project (whose investment amounted to nearly USD 180 million) represents one of the largest industrial investments made by a Portuguese company in the USA and is regarded as a “Project Supreme” by the authorities of State of Georgia.

Besides the progress made by Efacec Power Transformers Inc., ACS - Advanced Control Systems also received large orders and accomplished major achievements in 2009. This Atlanta-based engineering company was acquired in September 2007 by Efacec and develops activities in addition to those carried out by the Automation and Control Unit in Portugal.
